Music In The Park 2012
Thursday, July 19, 2012, 07:00pm
by admin
The Skookum Rotary Club’s ‘Music In The Park’ series gets underway this week and for the 17th year, it will bring a variety of free, family friendly music to the Post Office Park Gazebo Stage in Downtown Shelton. This year’s series gets underway Thursday evening with “Anna’s Bay Chorale”. The concerts continue each Thursday through the end of August. Organizers with The Skookum Rotary Club are including Blue Grass, Rock n Roll, Jazz, Country and Folk in this year’s offerings. Showtime is 7pm.

LINEUP:

July 12 - Anna’s Bay Chorale opens the concert series with their summer Gleek Fest. This all volunteer group will bring fabulously fun songs from the hit television show Glee, including music from Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Coldplay and of course Journey.

July 19 - Half Hitched, a local old time country band, with a rock and roll twist, will bring a great sense of fun and energy to the park.  They’ve performed at OysterFest, and other events all along the Peninsula.  They promise to get your feet tapping!

July 26 - very soon!

August 2 Chrome Betty,
makes its first Music in the Park appearance this week.  This band has its roots in the Olympia garage band scene of the 1960s.  CBB primarily performs covers of rock and blues music such as:  Clapton, Stones, Petty, Dylan, Muddy Waters, Van Morrison, Allman Brothers.

August 9 - ForEvergreen String Band, joins us again.  In just minutes you’ll know why we asked them back. This is traditional American music at its best.  ForEvergreen will make you clap and tap and remember America in a different era.

August 16 – Mason General Hospital’s Dr. Frederick Davis will take us back a couple of decades with acoustic guitar and singing our favorite folk tunes and ballads.  In his day job, Dr. Davis leads the orthopedic department at the hospital, but his musical reputation is growing rapidly.

August 23 – Pole Ba Ba is a local favorite. Paul Barber and Ron Grinnell will fill the park with a variety of music.  You’ll enjoy jazz, folk, and rock.  These Choice High School teachers have been playing together many years, and the crowd always enjoys their synergy.  Every summer, it seems, Paul adds another instrument to the repertoire, but it’s hard to beat just listening to them sing their favorite Beattle’s songs.

August 30 – Songs of Freedom Choir sings  the musical program it generally reserves as a gift to our veteran’s on Veteran’s Day. The choir will sing patriotic music, mixed with some traditional spiritual song.
