Mason County PUD No. 1 Board of Commissioners approved the 2012 budget with no additional rate increases for customers despite a 15% increase in power costs that the utility will incur from Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) next year. However, a 4 percent rate increase is scheduled to take effect on January first. That is part of a preemptive 16 percent rate increase spanning for consecutive years to help pay for major capital improvements. The last scheduled 4 percent increase will be in January, 2013
