Coal-Train Issue Heats Up

With the coal-train issue heating up, lawmakers in Olympia want Governor Gregoire to put together an emergency task force to assess economic, transportation, and environmental impacts before any permits are issued. State Representative Jeff Morris, whose district includes the first proposed coal-port, at Cherry Point near Bellingham, is one of the legislators urging caution. A study is currently underway by the Army Corps of Engineers.
