At about 1:30 AM on December 4, 2012, Olympia Police officers responded to an emergency call about a stabbing at McCoys Tavern in downtown Olympia. When police arrived, they found that two people had been injured with knife wounds.  The suspect in the stabbing fled the tavern on foot and officers located him several blocks from the scene.  When officers made contact with the suspect he was holding a knife and he failed to comply with the officers' commands.  Officers used a taser to take control of the armed suspect, a 34 year old Olympia resident, and he is currently in police custody.  One of the victims stabbed at the Tavern died at the scene from his injuries.  The second victim was transported to St. Peter Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are continuing to investigate the crime and more details will be released as they become available.
