Work Projects Cause the Closure of Thurston County’s Off Leash Dog Park

Two Day Closure Needed the Last Week of November.   Improvements to Thurston County’s Off Leash Dog Park will cause the closure of the facility for a couple of days.
The work includes landscape planting, fertilizing and top dressing the dog park with sand.   The days of closure are Monday the 26th and Tuesday the 27th of November.

The Off Leash Dog Park is located at the Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center
2418 Hogum Bay Road N.E. in Lacey.  The five-acre facility, open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., seven days a week, features a special area for shy and small dogs, water stations for dogs, a sand and gravel area for digging, paths and fencing.

The free park also includes a large, dogbone-shaped patio and decorative fire hydrants.  The patio consists of personalized “tribute” bricks available for purchase from Thurston County Animal Services, 360-352-2510.  Proceeds from the sale of the sand-blasted and engraved bricks benefit the Hawks Prairie facility and other future off-leash areas in the county.
