Chum Salmon and Cider Event at McLane Creek Nature Trail Nov. 18
To get to the McLane Creek Nature Trail, take the Evergreen State College exit from northbound Highway 101. Exit at Mud Bay Road and turn left at the stop sign onto Delphi Road. After 3.4 miles, turn right at the trail sign. Visitors need to display a Discover Pass when they enter because the trail is a state recreation site. Every fall, chum salmon return from the ocean to spawn in South Puget Sound. McLane Creek is home to a completely wild run of these salmon. The run began in early November and will continue through mid-December, peaking around Thanksgiving. Salmon Stewards will be on the trail to answer questions every Saturday and Sunday, and Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving weekend, weather permitting.
